Our annual Birthday Luncheon will be held at Maggiano’s Little Italy at 5333 Wisconsin Ave. NW. Lunch will be family style with vegetarian options (see menu below). Please indicate any dietary restrictions at checkout. Tickets are $60, payable by Paypal or check (checks must be received by Dec. 2, please).
How personal were Austen’s novels? Can we find the historical Jane Austen in her literary works? Our speaker Dr. Anne Fertig will discuss these questions in her talk “Finding Jane Austen: Austen as Autobiographer.”
Anne Fertig is a literary historian and a passionate public humanist. Known best for her work with the Jane Austen Summer Program, Dr. Fertig founded the webseries Jane Austen & Co. in 2019. Her extensive list of publications and digital projects include two Apple History Top 100 podcasts, several peer-reviewed articles, and a book, A Song of Glasgow Town: the Collected Works of Marion Bernstein. Dr. Fertig completed her Ph.D. in English and Comparative Literature at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2022 and currently works at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum.
